Features Journalist and Short Story Writer

SENTENCED

I recently pivoted from Manhattan Features Journalism to Milky Way Speculative Fiction stories.  I want to juxtapose science articles with a speculative fiction short story riff on that science.

The Univ of Md Music School accepted me, then I switched my major to English and then I took a prereq science course called Astronomy 101. Taught by Dr. Matthews who helped discover quasars, I immediately fell in love with all things space.

I made it as far as sinusoidal wave equations and then my math skills failed me. However I kept the stars tucked into my mind for the rest of my life. I returned to my passion.

Meredith… I loved this piece, and even before I’d decided on the whole collection, I knew this one would have to be the closer… it gave me flashbacks to some of the greasy dives in San Francisco where I ate at 3:30 in the morning after locking up the bar.
