Don’t Own the Gaslighting, Mansplaining, “People Pleaser” Trope

Don’t Own the Gaslighting, Mansplaining, “People Pleaser” Trope September 9, 2022 2 Minute Read  Odd. When a man works toward a non-self-interested goal he’s crowned with laurels of self-sacrificing martyrdom. He’s a Team Player! When women do the same a cruel wreath of thorns is placed on their heads: She’s a People Pleaser!  Don’t Buy It: Women make better leaders: Harvard Business said so. Twice. Other studies back them up. Let’s look at the science*.   Who’s more likely to: Attend to people’s personal needs  ✓ That point goes to women Be open to new ideas and other’s opinions ✓ That point goes to women too! Do better during crises. ✓ 40 per cent fewer COVID-19 deaths were recorded in nations run by women vs. men. Also “Women were rated significantly more positively than men [when it relates to] overall leadership effectiveness,” according, again, to a Harvard study. Reward satisfactory performance in a consistent manner ✓ Guess; just guess. Research backs it up. Narcissism Score: Men are proven to be more narcissistic than women. So much so, that in a study of 475,000 participants, newsflash; men have more “various interpersonal dysfunctions, including an inability to maintain healthy long-term relationships, unethical behavior and aggression” So another  ✓ Narcissism Part Deux – Entitlement (Surprise!) : “Men are more likely than women to exploit others and feel entitled to certain privileges.”  ✓ One wonders where the term “People Pleaser” came from…. You Decide #leadership #women #womeninbusiness #womenempowerment * Sources: COVID Leaders https://www.uq.edu.au/news/article/2022/06/female-leadership-attributed-fewer-covid-19-deaths Women Crisis https://hbr.org/2020/12/research-women-are-better-leaders-during-a-crisis Gender differences in narcissism https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/03/150304104040.htm Why women are better leaders then men https://fisher.osu.edu/blogs/leadreadtoday/why-women-are-better-leaders Buried Treasure: Contradictions in the Perception and Reality of Women’s Leadership https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2021.684705/full Women Score Higher Than Men in Most Leadership Skills https://hbr.org/2019/06/research-women-score-higher-than-men-in-most-leadership-skills

Morty’s Game

MORTY’S GAME New York was founded in 1624. 60 years later Madison Square Park became public and about 160 years after that we created baseball. Sure, you’ve heard about Cooperstown, but I’m sorry. The Knickerbocker Rules, the nine innings and the whole schmiel are from right here. We could argue about it. I’m sure someone somewhere is.

Achilles

ACHILLES “There’s a hydraulic fuel leak: you’ll need to jettison,” Lou Chinal heard in his helmet radio. When you deploy your ejection kit, “Keep your elbows in,” Lou told me. “If you don’t keep them in, when you eject you’ll either lose ‘em or break ‘em.” “How far did you fall?” I asked. Lou paused, “About 13,500 feet.”
